Macro Mindset Manager & Co-Coach
Since I was young, I’ve always been active but still struggled with my weight. I was that person who had to really watch what she ate while it seemed like my friends could eat whatever they wanted and not gain much weight. I danced from 4th grade all the way through my freshman year of college. Once my dance career came to an end, the college party life took over. Before I knew it I had an extra 40 lbs. on me, bringing me close to 200 lb. Confidence was pretty much nonexistent at this point—the only clothes that fit were sweats and I never wanted my picture taken. After graduating from Ohio University, I decided things needed to change. I no longer had an activity like dance to keep me active, so I ventured my way into the weight room with workout routines I found online. I cycled through every restrictive fad diet (21 Day Fix, Whole 30, Paleo, etc.) for 2 years losing and regaining the same 10-20 lbs.
I wanted to compete but I did not have high hopes for myself because I had given up and cycled through so many other things before. But to my surprise, I set my mind to it and did it! I stepped on stage, absolutely fell in love with the flexibility of counting macros and being able to eat the foods I love, and found my passion for working out.
It was then that I decided this was my calling. I wanted to help other women have this same freedom and feeling I received from gaining my life back through food, balance and fitness. I officially became NASM certified in February 2018 and started training clients in person at a local gym as well as under Alex through Macro Mindset. I believe in this system. Our bodies need food for fuel. I’ve been where you are—I’ve gone through this same journey personally. It is scary as hell to go against what society says, but that’s what also makes it so freeing. Alex, the rest of the #MacroMindset community and I are here for you when the going gets tough.
